WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Earlier this year, dozens of scholar-athletes throughout Northwest Indiana nominated by their schools were honored at a banquet at Purdue University. As part of the  National Football Foundation's Joe Tiller Chapter of Northwest Indiana 's June 25 event, the students were considered for the annual Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award, and the Journal & Courier featured 33 student-athletes nominated by high school athletics directors in the J&C coverage area. Months removed from that summer event comes a fall tradition, Saturday's Lafayette Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast, which funds the Ted Luce Scholarships given to the J&C Student-Athletes of the Year finalists and announced at the NFF Honors banquet.
